Welcome to the D-Tech Driver Training curriculum. We start every student with our “Building a Foundation” phase, designed to create safe, confident, and competent drivers right here in Marsden Park.
Our Core Competencies:
- Adjustments: Making all necessary setup changes to ensure you are comfortable, safe, and in full control of the vehicle.
- Systems Knowledge: Accurately locating and understanding every dashboard control, gauge, and warning light.
- Maneuvering: Mastering the art of moving off safely from the kerb and returning with precision.
- Steering: Developing a smooth, effective, and consistent steering method.
- Gear Management: Changing gears efficiently to perfectly match road conditions, traffic speed, and vehicle requirements.

Phase 2: Mastering Traffic Skills
Once you have mastered vehicle controls, it's time to interact with other road users. This phase is about multi-tasking, lane discipline, and navigating traffic environments in Marsden Park with complete confidence.
Core Traffic Competencies:
- Environment Scanning: Using your vision to proactively identify road hazards and essential traffic information.
- Reversing: Safely maneuvering the vehicle with precision and awareness.
- Simple Traffic: Driving safely and legally in low to medium-density traffic situations.
- Parking: Executing safe and legal parking maneuvers in a variety of real-world scenarios.
- Complex Traffic: Navigating medium-to-high-density environments with complete situational awareness.

Phase 3: Low-Risk Driving Mastery
Low-risk driving is about making conscious, safer choices to prevent accidents. In this phase, we move beyond physical control and focus on proactive decision-making, speed management, and responding to hazards before they escalate.
Core Risk Management Skills:
- Dynamic Maneuvering: Safely and legally changing lanes, merging, diverging, and overtaking other road users.
- Crash Avoidance (Front): Maintaining a safe crash avoidance space in front of your vehicle through precise speed management.
- Crash Avoidance (Sides): Maintaining side-impact safety by consistently selecting the most appropriate road position.
- Proactive Decision Making: Making safe, calculated decisions when joining traffic, crossing intersections, lane changing, or proceeding at traffic lights.

Phase 4: Gaining Experience & Test Preparation
