Your test begins the moment the examiner enters the vehicle. Set yourself up for success before turning the key:

• Park Rear-to-Kerb: When arriving before your test, reverse park into the designated Service NSW testing bay so you can drive forward when departing.
• Scan for Pedestrians: The rooftop car park experiences steady foot traffic from applicants and testing officers. Always yield before moving off.
• Perform a 6-Point Check: Check both mirrors, signal early, and perform thorough blind-spot shoulder checks before releasing the handbrake.

Section 1: Exiting HomeCo. Hills & Salisbury Road Industrial Area

Descend the multi-level ramp at a controlled speed below 10 km/h, scanning for vehicles reversing out of bays. Turn left at the roundabout onto Salisbury Road into the 50 km/h industrial zone.

Section 2: Victoria Avenue & Carrington Road Corridor

At the Salisbury Road and Victoria Avenue multi-lane roundabout, indicate right early, maintain lane positioning, give way to existing roundabout traffic, and signal left when exiting. Move to the far-left lane on Victoria Avenue to turn left onto Carrington Road.

Turn right from Carrington Road onto Showground Road (60 km/h arterial corridor), then prepare for a left turn into Rowallan Avenue where the speed limit drops back to 50 km/h.

Section 3: Residential Loop & Three-Point Turn

Turn left onto Patrick Avenue and immediately right onto Britannia Road. Turn left onto Bounty Avenue, right onto Cumberland Avenue, and left onto Chiltern Avenue or Nottingham Avenue.

Examiners frequently select Nottingham Avenue or Chiltern Avenue to evaluate the Three-Point Turn.

Step-by-Step Three-Point Turn Execution:

1. Pulling Over: Signal left for at least 5 seconds, perform mirror and shoulder checks, and pull over parallel to the kerb.
2. Scan & Signal: Indicate right for at least 3 seconds and complete a full 360-degree safety scan.
3. Point 1 (Forward): Move forward at a walking pace while steering smoothly to full right lock. Stop short of touching the opposite kerb.
4. Point 2 (Reverse): Select Reverse, conduct another 360-degree check (looking over both shoulders), and reverse while steering firmly to full left lock.
5. Point 3 (Drive Away): Select Drive, verify traffic is clear in both directions, straighten up in the left lane, and accelerate smoothly.

Section 4: Tuckwell Road, Sloped Roundabout & Gilham Street Double Lines

Exit the residential pocket via Surrey Avenue onto Tuckwell Road:

• Roundabout Exits: Signal left whenever practical and when sufficient time exists to communicate your intention safely.
• Kerbside Stop (Coolibah Street): When directed, signal left for 5 seconds, check blind spots, and bring the car parallel to the kerb leaving at least 3 metres of clear passing road.

Critical Hazard: Sloped Roundabout on Tuckwell Road

Past Ulundri Drive toward Old Castle Hill Road, you encounter a roundabout built on a steep slope. Maintain smooth steering and pedal control to prevent vehicle tilt from destabilising road position.

Critical Safety Alert: Continuous Double Lines on Gilham Street

Section 5: Castle Hill Public & High School Zones (40 km/h)

The 40 km/h school zone is strictly enforced along Gilham Street (Castle Hill Public School) and Castle Street (Castle Hill High School) during operating hours (8:00 AM – 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM on school days).

• Downhill Speed Control: Gilham Street slopes downward; use steady braking to prevent gravity from pushing your vehicle over 40 km/h.
• STOP Sign at Carramar Road: Come to a complete, motionless stop before the solid white line. Yield to all approaching traffic and pedestrians before proceeding.
• Castle Street Roundabout: Scan actively for student drop-offs, school buses, and pedestrians.

Section 6: Return Corridor & Reverse Bay Parking

Turn right onto Showground Road (60 km/h). Select the far-right lane when safe and practical, turning right onto Carrington Road, then right onto Victoria Avenue through the multi-lane roundabouts.

Pass through the retail corridor past Chemist Warehouse and HomeCo, turn into Hudson Avenue (< 20 km/h), ascend the ramp, and return to the Level 1 Service NSW test car park.

Reverse Bay Park Execution:

1. Signal left for at least 5 seconds before manoeuvring.
2. Complete a 360-degree observation scan for pedestrians and moving cars.
3. Creep slowly at a walking pace, checking both side mirrors to center between bay markings.
4. Select Park, apply the handbrake firmly, and switch off the engine.
